

Take the prices for the known entities and subtract from there. If you find EVETTE stamped in the middle of the Buffet Crampon emblem, then you have one of Buffet Crampons student or intermediate grade clarinets pre 1983. Also, look at what the internet discounters are charging for hi-end and intermediate models.

You may get a better idea about value by perusing eBay and checking the pricing on the really hi-end used models of Buffet and Selmer and Leblanc and Yamaha. Evette Schaeffer bought out Buffet Crampon in 1885 getting their own patent in 1867 starting with serial 7xxx where Buffet Crampon left off. I seriously doubt that your clarinet has THAT much value, albeit it may play very nicely. Jean Louis Buffet was already making musical instruments as early as the 1840s. I recall that EVETTE was a designation Buffet used to mark their lower-line instruments (e.g., EVETTE-SCHAFFER, although I may have misspelled it). But it wouldn't surprise me that over the years Buffet (as well as many others) kept changing their business model, number of variations, and locations where they had them built (either under contract or by themselves).
